Make Your Own Gold-Decorated Easter Egg
Photo: ARTMiE
Our craft project starts with an Easter egg, which can be made of plastic, polystyrene, or wood. We’ll leave the choice of material up to you. The only real difference is whether you want to hang the finished decoration. If so, we recommend plastic or polystyrene. We have plenty of types and sizes to choose from.
Once you’ve chosen your egg, it’s time to give it a fresh colorful coating. Since we like to craft in harmony with nature, we chose eco-friendly Nature paints, which are gentle on the environment.

Once the paint is dry, we can move on to the most fun part of decorating: gilding. Gilding may look complicated, but it’s actually very simple. To start, we need gilding size, which we apply to the areas we’ve selected. Once it is dry to the touch, the size creates an ideal base for the metallic leaf, which we lay over the treated area. You can also apply the leaf with a brush. Later, you can use it to remove any leftover pieces that didn’t stick to the surface of the egg.

We used a gilding set for our project, which already includes everything you need. You can use gilding on different surfaces to create patterns or turn every Easter egg into a unique piece. Your decorated creations can be used in ikebana arrangements and wreaths, hung on forsythia branches, or placed in a basket.

Remember, crafting doesn’t have to stick to just one technique. Combine several, and your results can be just as varied.

Easter crafting is one of the activities we enjoy most. Whether you decide to decorate eggs, make wreaths, or create other decorations, the main thing is to enjoy it to the fullest. And we’re glad we can be part of your creative journey. :)
